Turkey I. World Play Day

“We Are Walking for Play” 28th May 2010

World Play Day was celebrated for the first time in Turkey in 28th May 2010, in relation with the theme “we are walking for play”, with activities in Marmara University, Göztepe Campus, Atatürk Faculty of Education, Primary Education Department. It was organized by Dr. Işık Kamaraj, who is an instructor at Marmara University, Atatürk Faculty of Education, Primary Education Department, Preschool Education Division. Celebrations were made by 19 attendant students from Marmara University of Preschool Education Division. Celebrations started with a conference named “The Meaning and Importance of World Play Day”. Then celebrations continued with a parade in which, Işıl Kamaraj from Marmara University Communication Coordinatorship, and 19 attendant students from Preschool Education Division, participated. “World Play Day Massage 2010” was written and prepared as a leaflet. Then it was distributed to the students in the campus. Then celebrations were made in the canteen of Primary Education Department. I. World Play Day Message 2010

World Play Day’s opinion leader and founder is Freda Kim from South Korea. World Play Day is celebrated with a lot of activities, in every 28 May in a range of countries. The event identified as a daily, can be celebrated as activites, take a week in some countries. Like children, young people, parents, grandparents, teachers, disabled persons, people of all ages can participate these activities. I’m so excited and happy, because we celebrate the “World Play Day” in Turkey for the first time, with an activity in our university with the participation of our students. Knowing that we share the day by playing a parallel game with hundreds of people who celebrate this day, is too meaningful. I hope this day will be a tradition in our university and it will be celebrated like a festival or carnival with activites take a week. With the hope of meeting you again in the celebrations we will make in the following year and continuing to play until that day.

Happy 28 May World Play Day!

  6. Even if you don't want to, "life" will count you in a game. Don't wait for it and play.
  7. Game was always in our lives. We will never get it out of our lives.
  8. The children inside us will always play games. "WE LOVE PLAYING." Thumbs up for playing games!
